The journey of natural diamonds to the Earth’s surface is a fascinating geological process that spans billions of years and involves deep mantle dynamics and volcanic activity.
Diamonds were formed billions of years ago around 125 miles below the earth’s surface when at very high pressures (Pressures of about 50, 000 times the pressure at the surface of the earth) and intense temperatures (about 1600 degrees C), carbon atoms, often from ancient carbon-bearing minerals, crystallize under these conditions to form diamond crystals.
Diamonds have a unique cubic crystal lattice structure with each carbon atom strongly bonded to four others, becoming one of the hardest known natural substances. Their journey from the depths of the earth, diamonds are often released to the surface through violent volcanic eruption.
The diamonds have survived through eras and eons of extreme pressure and extreme temperatures, harsh terrain, yet they remain indestructible, unstoppable, continuing their journey to the surface that will last forever.
